چکیده

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine test-retest reliability and validity the adaptive Korean matrix sentence-in-noise test for elderly group with normal hearing (ENH) impairment (EHI).Methods: Twenty ENH listeners 20 EHI based on World Health Organization (WHO)-proposed hearing-impairment grade participated. For test, each subject assessed twice in a 2-week interval using three types noise: speech-shaped noise, International Collegium Rehabilitative Audiology Speech Test Signal. agreement judged by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) Bland-Altman plots. To differentiate between real change random measurement error, standard error (SEM) minimal detectable (MDC) were also obtained as another index. concurrent validity, results Matrix compared Korean-version Hearing In Noise (K-HINT).Results: good excellent groups (ICC, 0.84~0.98). Both showed stable reliability, but smaller SEM MDC values than group. No systematic errors found from K-HINT high, revealing validity. Conclusion: appeared be valid reliable elderly. can utilized clinical speech-in-noise ability individuals.

Factors Affecting Sentence-in-Noise Recognition for Normal Hearing Listeners and Listeners with Hearing Loss

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Despite amplified speech, listeners with hearing loss often report more difficulties understanding speech in background noise compared to normalhearing listeners. Various factors such as deteriorated hearing sensitivity, age, suprathreshold temporal resolution, and reduced capacity of working memory and attention can attribute to their sentence-in-noise problems. The p...

Word-recognition performance in interrupted noise by young listeners with normal hearing and older listeners with hearing loss.

BACKGROUND The most common complaint of adults with hearing loss is understanding speech in noise. One class of masker that may be particularly useful in the assessment of speech-in-noise abilities is interrupted noise. Interrupted noise usually is a continuous noise that has been multiplied by a square wave that produces alternating intervals of noise and silence. Wilson and Carhart found that...

Speech recognition in noise by hearing-impaired and noise-masked normal-hearing listeners.

A prevailing complaint among individuals with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is difficulty understanding speech, particularly under adverse listening conditions. The present investigation compared the speech-recognition abilities of listeners with mild to moderate degrees of SNHL to normal-hearing individuals with simulated hearing impairments, accomplished using spectrally shaped masking no...

Sentence Recognition Prediction for Hearing-impaired Listeners in Stationary and Fluctuation Noise With FADE

To characterize the individual patient's hearing impairment as obtained with the matrix sentence recognition test, a simulation Framework for Auditory Discrimination Experiments (FADE) is extended here using the Attenuation and Distortion (A+D) approach by Plomp as a blueprint for setting the individual processing parameters. FADE has been shown to predict the outcome of both speech recognition...
